Meet Amanda
My running journey started about 15 years ago. A friend asked if I wanted to do a 5K and at that time I was running down the street or around the high school track once or twice. I started running more and finished my first 5K race exhausted but excited to do another race. After a couple years of doing 5Ks, I got the courage to train for a 10K, years later a 25K and eventually a marathon with the support of a local running group. I was hooked on running, the camaraderie it brought and always looked forward to training runs, laughter, and friendship.
In the middle of training for my 7th marathon in 2017, I broke a bone in my foot and was devastated that I would not be able to run for a long time. I had surgery on my foot and was able to slowly start running again, but it was painful. A couple years later, I had another surgery to fuse bones in my foot and had to start running a third time from square one with a foot that physically isn’t ideal for running. I was finally able to complete my 7th marathon in 2021, proving to myself that I can run beyond my limitations with proper training!
As an RRCA Certified Running Coach and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, I hope to encourage others to achieve their goal of running any distance and not let injuries, physical limitations or setbacks hold them back from fulfilling their goals or dreams. Together we can find modifications to conquer fears and doubts.
